"The one thing I ask of the Lord—
the thing I seek most—
is to live in the house of the Lord all the days of my life,
delighting in the Lord’s perfections
and meditating in his Temple.”
--Psalm 27:4 NLT
Where God is not realized or actually being experienced the whole panorama of human evils takes over and hence we have a world still dominated by wars, disease, and endless suffering. God is the only power, the source of life, and only those who “abide in the shadow of the Almighty are safe (Psalm 91:1). God is not the author of the ills of this world but rather neglecting or rejecting Him is their source. Millions of very “religious” people are just as far from the realization of God as are those who make no profession of religion whatsoever. They wonder why their “faith” isn’t bringing healing and peace. The reason is clear—“religion” at best can be a path to God and at worst can deceive people into thinking “they’ve got it when they really don’t. Read Psalm 91 with much prayer and especially note verses 1 and 7.
“We do not go to God to GET something as if God were withholding it and as if our going would persuade Him to loosen up. We go to God only for the experience of communion, to sit in the presence of God, to feel the hand of God, and to be touched with the Spirit by the grace of God. That is enough and when that happens, the discords of human experience begin to fade.”--Joel S Goldsmith, The Only Freedom, p. 115
